Lourdes to Host Stroke Awareness Day

May is Stroke Awareness Month. Lourdes Center for Cardiovascular
Health is sponsoring Stroke Awareness Day on Saturday, May 15,
2010, from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the Lecture Hall at
Lourdes.
The event will include free carotid artery ultrasounds,
cholesterol testing and information on stroke prevention and
overall cardiovascular health. To be eligible for the screening,
individuals must be age 65 or over and have never had a carotid
artery screening, or age 50 and over with two or more of the
following risk factors: current or past history of smoking,
diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol (greater than 200),
chronic kidney disease, overweight and exercise less than three
times per week.
Staff will be available to discuss screening results with
individuals.
