Lourdes Auxiliary Hosts Ball
Tuesday, March 02, 2010
This year's Lourdes Ball, hosted by Lourdes Auxiliary, was held at The
McKinley in Endicott on Saturday, February 20. The $87,000 raised
through corporate sponsorships and individual contributions will
help fulfill the Auxiliary's $1 million pledge to Lourdes' Mission
2012 capital campaign.
Harkening back to Lourdes' opening in 1925, the theme of this
year's Ball was "The Roaring Twenties." Many of the 226 guests
dressed in fringe and pearls. The cocktail lounge featured a
speakeasy favorite called "The Bee's Knees." Keyboardist Rick Pedro
provided jazz entertainment during the cocktail and dinner hours,
and the band Brotherhood had the crowd dancing for the remainder of
the evening. A continuous slide presentation celebrated the many
cultural and technological advances of the era, both locally and
worldwide.
The Auxiliary was pleased and honored that the Most Reverend Robert
Cunningham, Bishop of Syracuse, was able to attend and bless the
meal.
From its inception in 1925, Lourdes has flourished through the
support of our community. Lourdes Auxiliary is grateful for
the generosity of 2010 Ball sponsors, guests and other contributors
- especially in the face of today's difficult economic times.
