Lourdes Sends Assistance to Haiti
Monday, February 08, 2010
Lourdes put together five pallets of
medical supplies to be shipped to Project CURE for delivery to
Haiti. Included were sutures, syringes, gauze and dressings,
castings, betadine, diabetes testing supplies, ostomy supplies, as
well as lotions, toothbrushes and hand sanitizers.
Project CURE gathers new and overstock medical supplies and
working equipment from manufacturers, wholesale suppliers and
distributors, hospitals, clinics and individuals and delivers that
material to clinics and hospitals in developing countries.
Currently Project CURE is working together with the U.S.
Military Southern Command, Catholic Relief Services, Partners in
Health, and other humanitarian organizations onsite in Haiti to
deliver desperately needed medical relief to quake survivors.
In addition to supplies, Lourdes has collected
$17,297.70 from employees and medical staff for
Seton Institute.
Lourdes is a member of Ascension Health. Seton Institute, the
international outreach arm of Ascension Health, is coordinating
system-wide relief efforts to assist. The Sponsors of Ascension
Health have a strong presence in Port au Prince, the capital city
of Haiti, located near the quake's epicenter. The money collected
is being used by the Sisters in Haiti so they may continue to meet
the immediate needs of the Haitian people and provide assistance as
the nation recovers from this tragedy. Seton Institute is sending
100% of every donation directly to the Sisters in Haiti.
