Choose the best place for your cancer
care.
Lourdes Hospital has been awarded the 2008 Commission on
Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award by the American College of
Surgeon's Commission on Cancer (CoC).
Lourdes Regional Cancer Center has been recognized as offering
the very best in cancer care. It is a recognition of the quality of
our comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care. We're dedicated
to offering the best cancer care, and are proud to have brought the
very best in today's cancer treatment closer to home.
The Award is designed to recognize cancer programs that strive
for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients.
Lourdes is one of only 95 facilities in the US to receive this
award. This number represents approximately nineteen percent of the
478 programs surveyed during this period. A majority of recipients
are community-based facilities; however, teaching hospitals,
NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers and Network Cancer
Programs also received the award.
Established in 2004, the CoC Outstanding Achievement Award is
designed to recognize cancer programs that strive for excellence in
providing quality care to cancer patients. A facility receives the
award following the on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor
during which time the facility demonstrates a Commendation level of
compliance with seven standards that represent the full scope of
the cancer program, including clinical services, cancer research,
and community outreach.
