This advanced technology allows doctors to treat patients
needing surgery in the most minimally invasive fashion
possible. Though there are other da Vinci Surgical Systems in
New York State, there are only two sites with the most advanced
model, the da Vinci Si HD Surgical System. This advanced instrument
enables surgeons at Lourdes to operate with unparalleled visibility
and dexterity. The other system is housed at NYU Medical
Center in NYC.
The
da Vinci SI HD Surgical System allows a surgeon greater 3
dimensional and high definition visualization, enhanced dexterity
with micro instruments, precision, control and superior ergonomics.
Multiple clinical studies have shown that the da Vinci Surgical
System offers patients a significantly short hospital stay, less
pain, less risk of infection, less blood loss, less scarring and a
faster recovery. Initially, Lourdes will target both prostate
cancer surgery and female gynecological surgeries.
"Our intention is to develop the most advanced comprehensive,
robotic surgery program in the region," stated David Patak,
President & CEO of Lourdes. "We are very fortunate to be able
to bring this advanced technology to our local community. Patients
will no longer need to travel outside of the area to receive this
state-of-the-art care."
