Sr. Mary Anne Brawley, DC Receives Seton Legacy of Charity Bicentennial Medal
Wednesday, June 03, 2009
On
May 23, 2009, Sr. Mary Anne Brawley, Lourdes Board
Chair, was honored at the Basilica of the National Shrine of
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and awarded the Bicentennial Medal.
The Daughters of Charity hosted this Seton Legacy celebration
to honor those who, through their ministries or their way of life,
have mirrored the example of Elizabeth Ann Seton's pioneering
spirit. Recipients of the Bicentennial Medal are acknowledged
for their willingness to be risk takers and honored for their
dedication to works of charity after the example of Mother
Seton.
The following is the testament that was read as Sr. Mary Anne
received her medal:
Those who live and work with Sister
Mary Anne identify her as one who is solid in her vocational
commitment. Like Elizabeth Ann Seton, she adds quality to everyday
life experiences and challenges by her willingness to fully invest
in whatever is being asked of her - particularly if it involves
advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable. With her unique
gifts of passion and humor, she brings all of herself into each of
her ministry opportunities, believing that "service is her main
call." Without hesitation or counting the cost, Sister Mary Anne
strives to reflect the best of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton,
unswervingly living out God's Will in her experiences.
Congratulations, Sr. Mary Anne!
