Each year, Lourdes Hospital's Christmas Mission Project helps to make the holidays a little merrier for families in our area by providing them with gifts and the makings of a holiday dinner. Lourdes employees and departments "adopted" 91 families, benefitting a total of 604 adults and children. Twelve additional families were adopted by various departments at Lourdes independent of the project itself.

Lourdes Medical Staff recently presented the Golden Stethoscope Awards, which are given to members of the medical staff who exhibit Clinical Excellence and Education, Leadership and Teamwork. Providers are nominated by their peers and co-workers. This year, a donation will be made in honor of the Golden Stethoscope Award recipients to a charity of their choice.
The award recipients are Steven Spivak, DO, for Clinical Excellence and Education; James Terzian, MD, for Leadership; and Ronald Harris, DO, for Teamwork.
Honorable mentions were presented to Cesar Dionisio, MD, and David Ellison, MD, in the category of Clinical Excellence & Education and Craig Monroe, MD, in the category of Teamwork.

Lourdes Hospice is pleased to announce a new collectible hand-crafted keepsake ornament that will be available for sale this holiday season as part of their annual fundraiser. “Heart of an Angel” is the new ornament and sells for $15. The funds were raised by the Aeros through the proceeds of a raffle for a ride in a Cessna 172. The raffle took place at the 2010 Radio Control Fun Fly in August.

CAMP HOPE for KIDS is a camp for children ages 6 - 14 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The camp is in its fourth year as a special project of Lourdes Hospice and Broome Oncology, with volunteers working to organize and staff the camp. The camp runs August 24 – 26, with 40 campers at Camp Sertoma, 459 Johnson Road Kirkwood, NY. The hours are 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
